Saturday 07/12 – OPEN DAY
OFFLINE promotes cultural and artistic exchange , stimulating circulation of national and international artists and artistic productions and the Internationalization of Portuguese art by creating new opportunities and partnerships , putting artists in touch and creating links between them . To the artists is launched the challenge to work from the context of the place and the insertion of the same within communities , promoting their involvement in artistic creation and in other activities , contributing to the creation of new audiences . We develop a program of presentations of artists , as well as a set of events that culminate in a transverse ” Open Day ” .
The Open- day aims to promote a series of discussions on the key issues addressed by the artists in residence, with the presence of curators , critics and other artists to encourage reflection and to open new creative productions. There will be a cycle of events ( open studios , exhibitions of work in process, discussions about the artistic processes in process ) within the spaces in the residence. These events are an invitation to the meeting between the artwork and the art public and the general public from the local community .

Irmãos Makossa a.k.a. Makossa Brothers, are two friends, searchers of african music from the 70´s, and its influences, decided to cross their preferences, and show their knowledge to the public.
Makossa Brothers Dj sets, are kind of a story of a journey trough Africa, and how it influenced the musical world, so this trip is told trough the music taken out from the sounds of the vinyls and cds that fill their cases.
This guys main reference is Fela Kuti, the creator of Afrobeat, Manu Dibango, Ebo Taylor, Tony Allen, O.P. du Cotonou… and so on. Makossa Brothers play in several night clubs of Lisbon, but usually they´re present in FMM Sines (World Music Festival of Sines), Boom Festival, Lisboa Mistura Festival, and collaborate with some broadcast radios producing mixtapes, such as Antena 3, RDP Africa and Groovalizacion.
The main idea of this project is to celebrate with joy and hot rythms one of the best things that Africa has, the Music.

O workshop OFFLINE procura acomodar artistas emergentes e artistas mais experientes, oriundos de todos os campos das Artes Visuais e incentivará as práticas contemporâneas em pintura, desenho, escultura, instalação, vídeo, performance, som e fotografia, entre outros media.
Offline promove o intercâmbio cultural e artístico, estimulando a circulação nacional e internacional de artistas e produções artísticas e a Internacionalização da Arte Portuguesa através da criação de novas oportunidades e parcerias, colocando os artistas em contacto e criando ligações entre si. Aos artistas é lançado o desafio de trabalhar a partir do contexto do lugar e da inserção do mesmo dentro das comunidades, promovendo a participação das mesmas na criação artística e nas restantes actividades, contribuindo para a criação de novos públicos. Para isso desenvolvemos um programa de apresentações dos artistas, bem como um conjunto de eventos transversais que culminam num “Open Day”.
O Open-day tem como objectivo promover uma série de debates em torno das questões centrais tratadas pelos artistas em residência, contando com a presença de curadores, críticos e de outros artistas a fim de incentivar a reflexão e abrir novas perspectivas de produção criativa.Haverá um ciclo de eventos (ateliês abertos, exposições de trabalhos em processo, discussões sobre os processos artísticos emdesenvolvimento) no espaços da residência. Estes eventos são um convite para o encontro entre o trabalho artístico e o público de arte e o público em geral.

Quem são os Irmãos Makossa???
Apaixonados pelos ritmos Africanos e suas vertentes, Paolo e Nelson decidiram juntar-se e mostrar ao mundo uma das coisas boas que África tem, a Música!!! Tendo o Afrobeat como base, viajam pelo Afrofunk, Highlife, Chimurenga, Soukous, Semba, Samba, Funana, Juju, Marrabenta e muito mais. Alegria, muita alegria é o que se pode esperar dos sets dos Irmãos Makossa.
