Nayari Castillo

Born in 1977 in Venezuela/USA. Molecular Biologist and Artist. MFA in Contemporary Visual Systems. Art University, Caracas, VE. MFA Public Art and PhD in Fine Arts, Bauhaus University, Weimar, DE. Has participated in numerous collective and solo exhibits in cities like Berlin, Brussels, Buenos Aires, Mexico DF, Miami, NY, Salzburg, Budapest, among others. Has won multiple prizes and bursaries including the First Prize in the 62th National Contest Arturo Michelena in Venezuela. Is mentioned in publications like: Open Maps: Latin-American Photography 1991-2002/Alejandro Castellote/ Telefonica/Madrid. In the past five years has attended various residencies including Skowhegan SPS (2009).

At present resides and works in between Caracas (VE), Graz(AT) and Berlin (DE). Using video, text, objects and photography as tools of communication, her installation work relies on site- specific constructs firmly attached to travelling concepts. Her interventions engage with history, time and space, claiming a semantic where ancient tools and contemporary devices combine in one and only discourse.

É Artista Plástica e formada em Biologia MoLécular.  Concluiu o seu MFA em Contemporary Visual Systems pela Art University de Caracas, VE. MFA Public Art e fez  PhD em Fine Arts, Bauhaus University de Weimar, DE.

Tem Participado em Inúmeras exposições colectivas em cidades internacionais como  Berlin, Bruxelas , Buenos Aires, Mexico DF, Miami, NY, Salzburg, Budapest, entre outras. Premiada por várias bolsas e prémios tais como;  First Prize  na 62th National Contest Arturo Michelena na Venezuela. A sua obra foi mencionada em publicações importantes tais como: Open Maps: Latin-American Photography 1991-2002/Alejandro Castellote/ Telefonica/Madrid. Nos últimos 5 anos  tem participado em inúmeras residências artísticas como a de  Skowhegan SPS  em 2009.
